UNITY GAME PROGRAMMING PORTFOLIO

Howard Park

Hi, I'm Howard— a Unity developer with 7+ years of experience building gameplay and network systems across indie, startup, and big tech environments. Recently at Meta, I worked as a Tech Artist on Horizon Worlds, and I'm now seeking gameplay programming or Unity-focused roles.

I specialize in building responsive, skill-expressive gameplay systems—spanning locomotion, animation, abilities, VFX, and multiplayer experiences. My background also includes backend development (AWS), networking, and technical art, allowing me to think across the full stack from player input to server systems.

As a competitive gamer (Overwatch, League of Legends, osu!, Marvel Rivals), I'm drawn to games with high skill ceilings and tight, satisfying mechanics. I focus on making systems that feel intuitive, responsive, and rewarding—where player intent is always preserved and no input feels wasted.

I also enjoy breaking down complex systems into something understandable and usable, whether through tooling, design, or collaboration.

Outside of development, I spend time working on my car, training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and watching anime.

"Tower Arena" Locomotion / Abilities (WIP)

A deep-dive into replicating AAA-quality 3rd person locomotion, combat mechanics, and hero abilities. I am currently developing this further for a looter shooter game which I am currently posting about in the Dev Logs page.

LoL Draft Simulator

As a huge fan of League of Legends Esports, I created a fantasy esports drafting game where real pro players are represented as cards, powered by their actual tournament stats to simulate matchups and outcomes.

Prophecy's Chosen - NYU IDM 2019

A game I presented at NYU's 2019 IDM Showcase: A 2D dungeon crawler where players can switch between 3 characters called Guardians that each have their own abilities/personalities which the player must synergize to progress through the game.

Grounded - Programmer

Inspired by the movie Annihilation, my friend and I created a VR puzzle game where players play as a scientist with amnesia who must piece together lost memories through cryptic phonograph recordings spread throughout his home.

HRMD VR - Programmer

Another VR puzzle game where players fuse materials using an alchemy mechanic to create tools and items to escape a rugged facility.
